L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site

Nearby is L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the first and only authenticated European settlement in North America. Its beautiful interpretation centre has displays, artifacts and a video presentation that details the discovery of the settlement and the lifestyle of the Vikings that lived there 1000 years ago. There’s walking trails, reconstructed sod houses and costumed interpreters who will captivate you with stories about their life there.

Grenfell Historical Properties

Visit the Grenfell Historical Properties in St. Anthony. The properties celebrate the presence of Sir Wilfred Thomason Grenfell in Northern Newfoundland and Labrador, and the impact that he and his worldwide mission had on the social, medical and economic climate of the early 1900s. The historic properties equally tell the story of the evolution of Northern Newfoundland and Labrador and the people of the region over the last 100 years. Here you will find a newly constructed interpretation centre with video presentations, display panels and gift shop. You can also visit Dr. Grenfell’s 100 yr old home, now a museum.

The Dark Tickle Company

A Unique Wild Berry Experience! The Dark Tickle Company is located in St. Lunaire – Griquet. They manufacture jams, sauces, vinegars, teas, drinks, yogurt, ice cream, and chocolates from unique wild berries from Newfoundland and Labrador. These berries, picked by hand, are carefully processed resulting in a quality product that is both distinctive and delicious. Visitors can watch the transformation of wild berries into our various products through a windowed production area. Learn as they are interpreted on our boardwalk. They also have one of Newfoundland’s leading art & gift boutiques. Shop their online store for great Newfoundland and Labrador gifts! Also home to Café Nymphe, an historically-themed bistro housing The Granchain Exhibit; a journey through a unique part of world history, the adventure and peril of the French migratory fishery along Newfoundland’s “Petit Nord”. Bask in the cozy atmosphere, while perusing the interpretive panels, artifacts and multi-media. Great coffee, a variety of teas, soup, sandwiches, entrees, and daily specials. Try their world famous Dark Tickle ice cream!

Fishing Point Park

Fishing Point Park in St. Anthony is a nature lovers paradise. Its a place of spectacular scenery, soaring seabirds beautiful wildflowers and extensive hiking trails. Its a wonderful place to take in the fresh air or relax at a well appointed picnic table. Here you will also find restaurants, a gift shop and the operational Fox Point Lighthouse. Stop by and chat with the lightkeepers.

Wildlife Photography

The St. Anthony area has some of the highest concentrations of moose in the world. Caribou are also a common sight along the Viking Trail. This will offer you amazing opportunities to photograph these majestic animals in their natural environment that you will not find elsewhere.
